Our Story

We are the daughters of Abella Cottage School, a Waldorf Cottage school that was started and cultivated for over 21 years by Julene Humes here in Utah Valley. It was handed over to a number of us in 2022 and we are continuing the legacy, education model, and community building that Julene laid the foundations for. We are so thankful for that foundation and for the continued guidance and relationship that she gives to Honeycomb Cottage School.

As a school, we are devoted to building a judgment-free and inclusive community of families whose focus is on the whole child; head, heart, and hands, and we have a deep understanding of child development and how the Waldorf curriculum meets the child at different ages and stages. The Honeycomb teachers develop lasting relationships with their students and families and also cultivate relationships between the Honeycomb families by affording them opportunities to spend time together at festivals, Treasuring Childhood Parent Education Meetings, as well as lots of fun field trips, camping, and family gatherings throughout the year.

Our Team

Our team is three-fold in nature, a social model that was developed by Dr. Rudolf Steiner. We have three components to our governance: Our Board, our Teachers, and our Parent Volunteers. We are the head, heart, and hands of our school. We work together to serve the community and the children.
